Great Lakes Maritime Academy - Yup, same deck license as every other academy but you have to get your first class great lakes pilotage. It’s always cool to see someone on here preparing to go to the same school. The crop that i work with now are great and it's a great mix of kp, mass, maine, and a&m grads. It’s hard work but it’s a good way to get perspective of what. I would recommend applying as an ordinary seaman or os. It’s by far the smallest academy, so you don’t meet many grads in the industry outside of the great lakes but they do exist.
